East-West Roads Project “Western Europe-Western China” Rehabilitation of the International Transit Corridor

Funded by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development/World Bank, the project includes improvements to the existing Balkhash–Burylbaital Road’s Section (II) of 50 kilometers and the widening of the road from two to four lanes.

The works to be carried out under the project and their quantities are summarized below:

• Total road length 50 kilometers
• Park and rest areas
• U-turn intersections
• Land filling and excavation            
• Asphalt pavement
• Agricultural overpass bridges
• Culverts (pipe grills and box culverts)
• Galvanized guardrail installation and wire mesh fence
• Electrical infrastructure and telecommunication infrastructure.
