As the port of Izmir has reached its maximum capacity, plans to construct a port complex that will serve on the main container transport lines passing through the Mediterranean have been drawn to meet the needs of the container traffic in the region. The construction of a breakwater to protect the port is the first-phase tender of the container port project. It is designed as a composite of two types of structures: rubble mound jetty and piled jetty. To facilitate ship refueling, a dock that can accommodate the berth of fuel delivery ships is located in the interior area near the shore. The fuel dock was planned to be on the inner side of the breakwater.
